Author Guidelines

Introduction
This guide provides the general information and the guidelines to prepare manuscripts, according to the rules of Geological Field Trips and Maps (GFT&M).

GFT&M is published by the Italian Geological Society and the Geological Survey of Italy - ISPRA. The journal was launched in 2009 to encourage the publication of original guidebooks of field trips and excursions normally held during congresses and workshops. GFT&M is also open to publication of original geological and thematic maps accompanied by explanatory notes. Maps will concern any possible subject related to the Earth Sciences and Planetary Geology with special emphasis to innovative survey techniques and applications.

GFT&M is a Golden Open Source journal that now publishes two issues per year, every six month, but that will move on a four-monthly publication soon. Articles are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, that permits use, sharing, adaptation, distribution and reproduction in any medium or format, as long as appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the source is given (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).

GFT&M is an on-line journal only published in a digital format at the following WEB page.

Online publication allows the reduction of printing costs and favours visibility to a wide audience through web shearing. No publication fees that are required for manuscript processing and/or publishing materials will be charged to the authors.

GFT&M guidebooks of field trips are printed in an A4 landscape format (h: 29.7 cm * v: 21cm). Given the format, there are no limits to the number of pages and illustrations (usually between 50 and 150 pages). We strongly recommend authors to consult the latest journal issues, for text and figures format. Explanatory notes of geological maps will be published in an A4 portrait format (h: 21 cm * v: 29.7 cm).
The official language is British English.

The journal is organized in Volumes with progressive numbering according to the year of publication; volumes are in turn organized in semi-annual issues.
GFT&M follows most of the editorial rules of the other papers edited by the Italian Geological Society.
All Authors are obliged to participate in peer review process and must have significantly contributed to the research. They are obliged to provide retractions or corrections of mistakes.

Authors must provide at the end of the paper a list of references and financial support if any. It is strictly forbidden to publish the same research in more than one journal.

Guidelines for the submission of contributions and general indications on the policy of the journal are presented as follows:
